Who doesn't love sleep?
Whether its a good 8 hours through the night or a quick shoot eye during the day, you cant beat the feeling of feeling refreshed after a good bit of sleep.
But what happens if we don't get the rest we all deserve?
So, we all know how important sleep is for our general day to day wellbeing, but what if I told you your lack of quality sleep may be causing injuries, slowing recovery and even limiting your training potential and gains!
When we have good quality, uninterrupted sleep, our bodies have the chance to repair and regenerate from the stresses and strains of our day to day lives. From a basic standpoint this recovery will allow you to carry on with the life you live without any aches and pains slowing you down or getting in your way.
Deeper than this however, is that if you are an avid gym goer and looing to develop quality muscle tissue, you NEED the right amount of sleep. Those muscle you work so hard on to tear in order to grow bigger and stronger when they recover, can only do so when they are able to rest through sleep.
And it goes without saying, without good quality of sleep, our cognitive functions become impaired. This inevitably leads to our reaction times slowing down increasing the chance of picking up and injury especially if you are involved in sports of any kind.
So, what can you do?
Put down that energy drink or coffee after 2pm
Limit technology a couple of hours before bed
Ensure your sleeping environment is set up for a quality night sleep (temperature, light, smells, cleanliness)
These are just a couple of ways to help manage your sleep quality and limit the amount of injuries you pick up.
And of course, we are here to help you on your way to getting better sleep and better recovery through our treatments.
So take control of your sleep and let's all feel our best again!
